Malibu restaurant concept will take over longtime Harbor House space in Seaport Village

Harbor House, a 40-year-old mainstay on San Diego’s bayfront, will be replaced by a well-known Malibu restaurant concept that local port officials are hoping will revive visitation to the aging Seaport Village.

San Diego port commissioners on Tuesday approved a 10-year lease with Malibu Farm, which plans to transform the 14,000-square-front Harbor House into much more of an indoor-outdoor venue that will include, in addition to full-service dining, an ice cream and espresso bar and a home goods store.

Major Overhaul Slated for Costa Verde Center, Next to UTC & New Trolley Line

The owner of the Costa Verde shopping center opposite Westfield UTC plans to demolish its 31-year-old strip mall and replace it with something tailored to fit the coming-soon trolley terminus that connects to the property. The revitalization effort, which has been in the works since 2015, aims to merge community retail with a modern, 400,000 square-foot life science campus and a 200-room business hotel.

Cava has ambitious expansion plans and is converting many of the Zoës Kitchen outlets acquired in 2018 into its namesake brand. Management plans to have 500-plus Cava outlets operating by 2025, including 14 newly converted spots in Atlanta scheduled to open by October. The conversion strategy allows the company to open new restaurants on an expedited schedule.
